Charles Kennedy visits Oxford this Thursday to talk about the war in Iraq

5.13.51pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 13th Apr 2010

Former Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy will be visiting Oxford this Thursday. He will be doing a walkabout on Cowley Rd from 11, meeting local residents and following that with a speech and Q&A at the Asian Cultural Centre on Manzil Way on the war in Iraq.

Oxford East Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Steve Goddard, said "Under Charles' leadership the Liberal Democrats were the only mainstream party to oppose the illegal, immoral and unjustified invasion in Iraq. Our Labour MP voted for the Iraq war repeatedly, and has voted to block an inquiry 12 times. He hasn't even had the decency to apologise."

"I'm delighted to welcome Charles back to Oxford. It's a real sign that the Liberal Democrats are taking Oxford East very seriously. We know we have a great chance of overturning Labour's wafer-thin 963 vote majority.
