Oxford City's Liberal Democrat councillors will be joining the remembrance day parade and service in St Giles in Oxford on Sunday 9th November, led by group deputy leader Cllr Stephen Brown and by the Sheriff of Oxford, Cllr John Goddard.

Said Cllr Brown: "While remembering the brave men and women who have died and suffered in world wars, and in other conflicts, we must particularly think about those areas of the world where British troops are still at risk of death or injury every day. Lib Dems hope that the election of Barack Obama to be president of the United States will allow an early withdrawal of British troops from Iraq, and from an occupation to which our Party was opposed from the start."

Added Cllr Brown: "Let us hope that our Government now understands that it is always unacceptable in the twenty-first century to invade another country without a legal mandate from the United Nations, or in self-defence. We will certainly never forget."
